HBCU Tour and College Mentoring Program

Workforce Development

The Sylvester Pace HBCU Tour is a comprehensive initiative that not only focuses on academic exposure but also includes a crucial workforce development component. This aspect of the tour is designed to create lasting, mutually beneficial opportunities for both our sponsors and students. Here’s how it integrates into the tour:

  • Internship Opportunities: We aim to connect students with internships during their summer break, providing them with practical experience and insights into various career paths.
  • Pathways to Employment: The tour facilitates pathways to permanent job opportunities in the Greater Pittsburgh Area upon graduation, ensuring students have the support needed to transition from education to the workforce.
  • Skill Development: Participants engage in hands-on learning activities and workshops led by local corporate and community leaders. These sessions are designed to inspire students to set ambitious goals and equip them with the skills needed to achieve them.
  • Networking with Professionals: Students have the chance to connect with successful Black male professionals, current students, and alumni, fostering relationships that can support their educational and career journeys.

This workforce development component aligns with our mission to improve the overall wellness of Black youth and families by providing high-quality, culturally relevant educational and professional opportunities.
